Food Choices

Those who go to Slippery Rock University, or live in town, know that there are very limited places to eat around here. I find it ridiculous that in a college town there are four different pizza places, two sandwich shops, a McDonald's, and a Sheetz. There is no variety and I find myself trying to pinball between the places, so I do not eat at the same place three times in one week. There are other places like the brewery or the tavern, but they can get expensive. Our rival school IUP has anything you can think of and I know it is probably wrong to say, but I am kind of jealous of them!

Prepare for the Weather

Students who attend Slippery Rock University know that nice weather is perhaps the some of the best news that can be given around here. Slippery Rock has a short period of nice weather in the beginning of fall semester and at the end of spring semester. Around the time where those two meet, Slippery Rock turns from a nice college town into a city-sized wind tunnel. What I mean by this is it literally gets so windy that you almost blow over and the wind chill from this feels as though icicles are being formed on your face. So as a warning now, because after Thanksgiving will be too late, but prepare yourself for the cold, windy days of Slippery Rock Investing in a scarf and gloves can be a simple start!

Night Classes

So today I am going to be discussing the most dreaded thing about Slippery Rock University, and I am not talking about the weather! One of my most despised types of classes at this University is the night class. This semester I have one on Mondays and Fridays, as well as a class on Thursday that runs from 3:30 to 6:15. The two that I mentioned that are at the beginning of the week are two hours and thirty minutes, so on average my classes run over two hours long. The length of these classes along with the fact that If you miss one class it is equivalent to missing a whole week of regular classes and can effect your attendance grade majorly!
There are some benefits to these classes though! They are only once a week so the motivation to go and not miss is high. Also, there is very little homework and the classes are generally small, so getting to know everyone is easy. Then, the fact that it is later in the day may have a better mindset on the students who dislike waking up in the morning. Last, it gives you a whole week to study for a test without any other homework in the class.
So all in all, night classes have their benefits as well as their downfalls. Respond to my post with your reaction to night classes!

Sundays at SRU are for work

As a student of Slippery Rock University I can say that it is a common act to relax and hang out most of the weekend, but once it gets to Sunday it's time to focus. Most of my Sundays consist of studying, school work, and they occasional football game, depending on who is playing. Well, today I spent almost all of my day studying for Anatomy and physiology class by taking online quizzes, reviewing PowerPoint slides, and memorizing how the blood moves through the heart. Anatomy is a very hard and in depth class as most of my fellow HPE majors know, but the knowledge I have been retaining from the course really makes me think of how amazing our bodies actually are. Other than A&P work, the day consisted of some more studying and some homework for Tech PETE, including this here blog!
